Seth emerged in the courtyard, not longer wearing his scarf and blazer, but still looking quite formal. There was no one there. He shrugged and sat on a bench. By his definition, he'd at least tried. He wasn't exactly looking forward to bonding with the other residents. Or the staff for that matter. He sighed and thought about his mother, his father, the business, his new responsibility. He stopped there. He didn't want to think about responsibility. He didn't want to think. He closed his eyes and focused on the noise of birds and wind.

Not knowing that she was interrupting anyone's peace, Brittany walked into the courtyard swinging her arms and spinning her hat around on one hand. "They do not see what lies ahead/When sun has failed and moon is dead..." Then she saw Seth on a bench and stopped singing. "Cheerio, mate," she said in greeting, and sat next to him, putting her hat and the book she had checked out from the library on the ground.

The first thing Kyle saw was the witch and the snooty boy sitting on a bench. He stood under a tree close enough to them that he would be able to catch their conversation (and possibly join in, should he feel like it) but not close enough that he would be intruding.

Seth opened his eyes and looked over the witch-girl. "Cheerio indeed." he said with an aire of discontempt. She looked like a loon. More than likely was a loon. And he had no use for loons. But you didn't want to be on their bad side. "I don't believe I've had the pleasure of being introduced to you before."

Brittany smiled widely. "The name's Brittany. Brit to my friends. I hope you don't have a problem with me being a witch; I can sense your unease." Laughing like she hadn't said anything at all odd, she stuck out her hand to shake.

"Brittany, eh?" And she was British, by her accent, "So are you really a witch then?" Seth had learned long ago to humor people you didn't agree with.

Brittany, Kyle thought. He waouldn't of pegged her as a Brittany. Or as he guessed the spelling of her name: Britteny.

Brittany smiled, rather condescendingly. "You don't beleive me, do you? No matter. I've met plenty of nonbeleivers in my time. Don't worry, you'll wise up sooner or later..." Her smile widened, turning rather... eerie.

"I'm sure." Seth grimaced and shifted in his seat on the bench. This girl was making him feel rather uncomfortable. And she was a complete loon. No doubt about that. "Ah... So... I there a school where you learn magic or something?"

Brittany snickered. "What? Noooo!" She laughed racously. "What, you read children's books?" Her voice just oozed scorn.

"No." Seth scoffed, "I was just wondering where someone was supposed to learn witch craft."

"Oh, change your mind have you? Well, books are a good starting point. But the only real way to actually learn is through practice." She chuckled darkly. "And then... Well."
((Oh, shoot. Heh, Brit's crazy.))

Seth scooted slightly away from her. Was she for real? "Practice. Right. I don't suppose you have any other skills."
