"Dorm room?" Lily blinked, confused. It took her a moment to realize what he meant. "You mean you want to stay here? But you're so tiny!" she exclaimed, "Very well. I'll need your name and age, please."

"Oh, okay I'm Riv Hulton and I'm nine years old!" Riv proudly exclaimed

"Nine, huh?" So she was right; he was a little kid. And what an odd name! She wasn't sure how she felt about giving him a room. Well, at least he already has a roommate... She typed his name into her computer. "Alright, Riv. You get three free meals a day in the cafeteria. Our lounge just opened and a library is soon to follow. You may use them whenever you like. You're room is B101; here's your key." She handed him a key, "If you go through the door at the end of the hallway to your right, Building Beta-- the building you're in-- is to the left." She smiled, "Have a nice day!"

"Thanks!" he smiled and walked to the door and opened it and left the room. What a nice lady she reminds me of my mother.

Lily turned back to Jacques, "I wonder what a little kid is doing all alone. Where could his parents be?"

Riv entered the office and walked up to the front desk. He looked at the lady who had kindly helped him "Um excuse me but do you know a lady named Linda Hulton and what is your name." he asked her hoping she would say yes and say she knew he from school or something so he could hear what his mom was like, her hobbies and etc.

"I'm Lily Mathers. I can't quite say I do, though I can hardly remember much. I have a terrible memory." she explained, "Do you know what school she went to?"

He clasped his hand below his chin"Yes I do she went to ummmmmmmm...uhhhh....Standford I think.. yes Standford sorry it took me a while!" his face looked much brighter after he heard what she said. With his hands still clasped below his chin he began to sway like a washing machine.

((A... a washing machine?... ._. ))
"Stanford!" she laughed, "No, I'm not that smart. Sorry. You should be very proud of your mom, though. That's a hard school to get into."

His face changed from a huge smile to a sad frown."oh okay thanks anyways." he looked at her smile and walked slowly out of the office

Lily frowned. "Poor kid. Do you think he's lost?" she asked.

Jacques, who had been watching the strange exchange between Riv and Lily, shook his head and smiled sympathetically. "No, I think he's just used to being alone. I get the feeling he never knew his mother, and that he now needs a place to stay. It was a good thing to do, to give him a room." He smiled at her. "Who knew, you like kids."

"And why should that be a surprise?" she pouted. Of course she loved kids! What kind of person did't? Oh right...

Jacques looked startled at Lily's response. "Well, I guess you just seem more of the career type."

Lily slouched. She supposed he was right. She always had wanted kids though. She had been in school to become a teacher, but... "One day that'll be different... I hope."
