Jacques grinned at the change in Lily's attitude when she dealt with the new applicant. He also grinned at Kyle as he left, and said: "Tag! Have a nice day, hmm?" to his back. He was calming down, this was good. But returning to his previous conversation. "Die Tat wirkt mächtiger als das Wort. Actions speak louder than words. He seems like an... interesting guy." He rubbed his eyes tiredly. "But ouais, I agree about the bipolar thing."

((What are you oh bloodying about?))
Lily realized just as the new resident left that she had forgotten to give him any direction of any sort. Ah, well. Let the sucker figure it out. She was a bit surprised by her own attitude.
Now, Lily didn't speak a word of any language but English. Recently she had began Japanese (by request of Daniel, of course), but had made no real progress. She just didn't have the mind for it. So, of course, it fascinated her whenever Jacques spoke in German. It was incredible, really. "Interesting in what sort of way?" she inquired, wanting to get his perspective on the matter.

Jacques thought about it. "Well, he doesn't care about what anyone thinks of him, right? And he pretty much only cares about what he wants to get done? That's what I can tell. In any case, he means business. i can see that. It's just the question of what the business is... but I'm prying. Ce n'est pas mes affaires."
((Sorry, I just posted late and it was out of context))

"It is now." she answered, surprised that she could desifer the French. "He also seems to have a...unique way of getting that business done, right?" She wondered vaguely if this sort of conversation could be considered gossip. It'd been a long time since she had someone to gossip with. "You know what he did when I first met him?"

Jacques groaned. "Do I even want to know?" He suddenly thought that this sounded like they were two coworkers compaining about their boss. Who'd have thought it, but they were. He'd never been a gossiper. In fact, he'd never had an friends who gossiped either. But he seemed to be a natural, falling into the sarcastic speech patterns and easy laughter that characterised the old pastime.

"It's not that bad, it's not that bad! I swear!" she paused to collect her thoughts. "I was at the library-- who'd have guessed-- to research... Oh, it was some paper for one of my classes, I can't quite remember what it was about. Anyways, I had this huge stack of books in my hand, right. I had been a slacker in that class, so I wanted this to show the professor that I really wanted the class." she paused for a breath, smirking at the next part of the memory, "And then he showed up; it was the first time I'd ever met him. He ran right into me, rather purposefully too. The stack of books fell over, taking me with it." she giggle for a couple seconds, then a puzzled look took over her face, "He asked me if I needed help getting up, but you know the strange thing? I don't think he looked at me once. The whole time he was looking at the books I dropped; almost like he was looking for something..." She leaned forward for the last part, keeping her voice down. She didn't think this was something she was supposed to share with someone so new to the team.

"Comment mystérieux!" Jacques said jocularly, laughing. "Weird, though." He sensed Lily's discomfort and changed the subject hastily. "Anyway, I was just wondering: I'm the butler, right? What exactly is my job?"

"How do I explain?" Lily stared at the ceiling as she thought. "It might help if I knew what you were expecting."

Jacques shrugged. "I came in a suit, what did I expect? Minor housekeeping, helping out residents with issues, um... Gott, I don't know! Carrying drinks, probably. Ah... Being the formal conduit between staff and residents? Y'know, like a Butler does?" He spread out his hands in a remarkably Parisan gesture of helplesness. "I think I can do those things, and I know about housekeeping. That's it, really. I just needed a job to pay for my medical bills! Don't misunderstand, being a butler is a career choice. But I hadn't realy grasped the, the sérieux, the seriousness of it?"

"That's pretty much it... Don't tell him about the house cleaning part; he might put you in a maid's uniform." she laughed at the mental image,"Who chooses butler for a career, anyhow?"
((Stole that line from you!))

Jacques gave another semi-Parisan shrug. "I've always been a bit abnormal." Then he realized exactly what Lily had said. "Wait- would he really?" he raised his eyebrows and looked faintly alarmed.
((Oh the irony))

Lily threw her head back and laughed, the suddenly had the most serious expression, "Yes." She let her previous smile creep back onto her face, "But only because you'd hate it. And not only that, but you wouldn't be able to hide it." It was true. "His pleasure is other's misery." she quoted, "It's why I have so many doubts about this place. He'll probally blow it up the second people like it or something."

Riv opened the door to the office. It was like any other office fish tank, chairs, and a front desk. Riv took a step forward looking around the room as he waked up to the front desk. "Um excuse me is this front desk?" he looked at each side of him as if someone was watching him.

"Yes it is. Are you looking for someone?" Lily asked, smiling at the little boy.

"Nope, I just need a key to my dorm room."he stared straight at her like he was trying to figure something out about her.
