((Once again. Lazy. And I don't think anyone will read this. So yeah.))
"So, what exactly is this about?" Lily ventured.
Daniel laughed. He was smiling, but his eyes remained cold, "Don't pretend you don't know. What did you tell him."
"Don't pretend you don't know." Lily retorted. "You must've already watched the whole thing." She was scared. Not so much of Daniel. It was the full consequence of her action.
"No, actually. Just read the note. I wanted to hear it from you."
Somehow, that was disarming. That, even after she did what she did, he trusted her enough to get the story from her. Lily looked at the ground. "Only what you told me that first day in the library. Nothing super important or specific."

"You are an idiot." Daniel was glaring hard at her. "I had permission to say those things. I was supposed to be looking for someone. Did anyone tell you to find someone? Anyone at all?"
Lily flinched and stared at the floor. Her voice came out tiny, "No..."
Daniel shortened the distance between them. "No. You had no right to share RSP's secrets with anyone on the outside."
"Well, what about you?!" Lily retorted, her arms flying out. "I'm supposed to believe you haven't done anything wrong? The evidence is everywhere! What the hell did you do?"
Daniel narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean... What are you implying."
"I'm implying that you have been breaking rules that both RSP and I have have given you. I don't know exactly what, but..." Lily stopped for a second, her face growning dark. She sneered, "You guys didn't fall in a ditch or whatever excuse you plan on giving me. I'm not that stupid."

"Lily," Daniel sighed and rolled his eyes, "I have no idea what you're talking about." He did have an idea, though. An idea that was probably right, but he hoped was wrong.
"Bull." Lily cursed. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. Why the hell would you do that? If you have any good reason, just tell me! I can't let you just go off doing whatever when people's lives could be at stake!"
"I'm not going to kill anyone." Daniel yelled back at her. He took a deep breath to calm himself. "And I don't know why I did it. It just... happened."
Lily's throat tightened, but she refused to cry for a third time today. Instead she glared at the floor. "Can I go back now?"

"Yeah, go ahead. We're not done, though." Daniel said as he took a seat behind his desk.
Lily nodded and exited the room quietly.

After Lily had left, Daniel sat for a long while in silence, thinking. Or maybe not thinking so much as trying not to, but that was futile. Minds liked being active, for whatever reason. And so he thought about everything that had happened, not just having to do with RSP, but everything. His mother, father, uncle, school, jail (or was it detention? There were too many words for the same thing. On any leverl, cops had been involved), his fake parents, Lily, Jamie, father, Jacques, Jamie, Lily. He shut his eyes as if that would block the current of thought. He didn't want to think about the past. He didn't want to see Jamie lying dead in his arms; he didn't want to relive the moment the light had left his mother's eyes and she became a shell of the woman she once was.
He opened his eyes and looked around the room. He wondered how he had gotten here. It seemed an odd place to end up. His eyes fell on a clock. 3... I should eat something. And so, to the best of his abilities, he pushed his thoughts back in his skull and stood to leave. He paused at the door, hand already on the handle. He took a deep breath, as if preparing to dive into water, and open the door.
((My Gott, can anyone tell that I just read 6 chapters of the Scarlet Letter? XD I feel it changed my writing style momentarily.))
